The goal of the Welfare-to-Work Committee is to plan recommendations and guide support programs that attain the goals of the Work First New Jersey program, while ensuring that Welfare recipients are transitioned into permanent, unsubsidized employment. The Committee is responsible for developing plans to utilize the One-Stop System and develop relationships with the business community, service providers, and Human Service organizations to effectively serve the welfare customers of the City of Newark and Essex County.
The Welfare-to-Work Committee oversees the WorkFirst New Jersey programs, services, contracts, and providers. This committee is focused on Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) participation rates and job and training placements, as well as quality improvement issues, performance of the vendor system, and performance of the city and county case management system.
The Welfare to Work Committee will make planning recommendations, guide and support program implementation for the Greater Newark welfare population. This committee will also coordinate and improve services to the Work First New Jersey population. This committee will include representatives from businesses, service provider agencies, labor, and County Human Service organizations, while ensuring that Welfare recipients are transitioned into permanent, unsubsidized employment
